Micanthul LD48
A downloadable game for Windows
[LD48 compo project. Post-Jam Update now available.]
Automated RPG combat - conquistadors in Mesoamerica delving into the jungle.
Controls :
* Mouse : Click on text to skip, Click on Camp/Progress/Retreat to take action, Click on map locations when discovered to Fast travel, Drag and drop heroes portraits to modify the battle formation (different position allow to reach different enemies, and front row warriors can tank and mitigate damage for the back row, but some enemies like Spearmen can pierce through the front row : hover mouse over enemies to see hints about their behaviour)
* S to Speed Time x 2
* R to Reset Time scale
* M to Mute Sounds and music
Mechanics :
[Mechanics will become more transparent and better presented to the player in the future]
* Progress will always make the encountered fights harder, with progressively more and tougher enemies.
* Watch your party levels, if fights become difficult, it is better to head back to Hideout.
* Camping in the wilderness can allow you to push through uncharted territory and heal yourself during an expedition without heading back to a base, but you risk being ambushed by enemies. You cannot be ambushed twice in a row. If a Camp action gets interrupted, you can be sure the next camping is safe and will heal your party.

May update adds :
- many fixes
- a new progression curve
- a minimap representing the progression
- unlocking of locations, including safe havens (hideout and village outposts) that allow to Camp and safely restore your party health points
- basic code to prepare the party roster feature
- basic code to prepare the dungeon feature
- new enemies
- new story events
- pause and fast modes
Actually some story content cannot be reached in this v1 because of progression maths flaws. Getting the balancing and progression right so that the narrative feel can be there, will be my next task beyond the LD compo contest.
